Chief Product Officer (CPO) Role and Responsibilities
Reports to: CEO
Executive Mandate: AAM Market → Innovation → Product Strategy → MDR → R&D / DRD →
Program Execution → NPI → Production Release → Commercial Launch → Revenue
Role Purpose:
The Chief Product Officer (CPO) converts market opportunities, customer requirements,
innovation, and emerging technologies into differentiated products, strategic programs, and
profitable revenue growth.
Serving as the executive bridge across R&D, Design Engineering, Program Management, Operations,
Commercial, Finance, Supply Chain, partners, and customers, the CPO determines where the
market is going, where the company should compete, what products to develop, and how to bring
them successfully to market.
Product defines WHAT and WHY. R&D and Design Engineering define HOW. Program
Management drives execution. Finance and Supply Chain establish product economics. Operations
scales production. Commercial converts products into revenue.
